Home Learning

Should you be self isolating or should school be forced to close during this difficult period, please find below links to some home learning projects to keep you busy!

Where possible, these tasks don't require a computer to be completed. Some are links that you can view online and then complete on paper, some are creative tasks, some are writing and others are aimed to get you outside in the garden. You can take photos of your work and then send them into school or you can bring it in with you when you are back in school. We would love to see it!

Term 2: Toys

This term our topic is... Toys! We are excited to learn all about toys that children used to play with in the past and compare them to those we play with now. In D.T we are going to be designing our very own toys. In Science we are going to be looking at different materials which will hopefully help us with our designing! We are focusing on algorithms in Computing. We are also hoping to do lots of Christmas artwork! smiley

Term 1: My School

This term our topic is "Myself and My Changing World", in particular "My School". We are learning about the history of Steventon and St Michael's and we are excited to compare what school was like in the past to what it is like now! Maple Class are also going to be focusing on looking at maps of Steventon and learning about the seven continents in the world. During our Science sessions, we are learning all about our bodies, including different body parts and the five senses.

In Maple Class we do a lot of free flow play, which means we are often needing resources to replenish our junk modelling section.

If you do have any recyclable items, we would appreciate if you brought them in!

Examples of items that could be brought in:

  • Plastic bottles
  • Any cardboard boxes/packaging
  • Plastic packaging
  • Empty kitchen roll
  • Milk lids
  • Empty cereal boxes

Maple Class love the junk modelling area so any extra resources would be much appreciated!

Thank you smiley

With the Year 1 Phonics Screening this year, it is helpful for the children to practise their phonemes. Here are some phonics practice pages that can help them improve their skills.
