Steventon Pre-school is a friendly, fun and safe educational setting for children aged two years nine months until they start primary school. Its aim is to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent-involving, community based group.
Sessions are for up to 24 children per session. Pre-school is open for 38 weeks of the year, mostly coinciding with school term dates.
Session times are currently 8.45 – 11.45 and 12.00 to 3.00, Monday to Friday.
After registration, children play freely with the toys, games and table activities (these are changed daily). This is followed by time for a drink, snack and fruit with group discussion. We then play outside, weather permitting. All the children then come back indoors for singing, music and story time before being collected by their parent or carer.
We operate from a new (summer 2010) building which offers fantastic space for our children and our staff. We have 2 bright and airy rooms, both overlooking St Michael's grounds. One is for messier activities such as painting, sand or water play. The second holds our home corner, library corner and carpet based play and equipment. Children have unrestricted access to an outside learning area, and our playground features a wendy house, bike track, climbing mound and our garden, where the children plant seeds and grow plants.
